Nick: It’s funny, I think one of the reasons Ron has caught on so strongly with the audience is because everyone has someone like Ron in their lives. PW: When people do recognize you, what do they want to talk about? In fact, at the NBC Experience Store fan meet & greet - which had an incredible turnout, which was very exciting - I was able to walk into the store, past the line of people waiting to meet me, and nobody even gave me a second glance. Nick: It’s pretty amazing – I’ve been walking all over New York and I haven’t had one instance of someone recognizing me. PW: Ron has a very distinct look that you don’t sport in real life while not filming - do you find that it’s easy to go unrecognized without the ‘stache? PW: It does seem like the characters form one weird but amazing nuclear family with Leslie & Ron as the parents.
Nick: “The Office” finds more of its humor in the depression and bleakness of the workplace, while there seems to be a lot more love in the world of Pawnee, so we manages to wring a lot of humor from the relationships. PW: Since you drew the comparison, as did most everyone else back in season one, where do you think is the biggest difference between “The Office” and “Parks?” So it’s been incredibly gratifying to see everyone catch on to what we’ve known since day one. They had to overcome people’s love of the British “Office” – and they did.

Nick: We’ve had the opinion all along that the show was the smartest most heartfelt comedy on TV today – but we knew we had some serious hurdles. PW: This season has seen “Parks” go from under the radar to one of the most acclaimed shows on television. Nick: Well, if that’s the worst thing that ever happens to me, I’m a lucky son of a bitch PW: How do you feel about being such an omnipresent GIF now? I think it was pretty quick that she said, “you need to wear April’s little hat.” And it just felt like, “of course I do!” During that whole drunken dancing Snake Juice montage, Amy just sat behind the monitor and called out ridiculous ideas.
Nick: Amy wrote the episode and whoever writes that week’s script also acts as the producer, working hand in hand with the director to shape the moments. PW: Where did the idea of Ron in the hat come from? We throw a bunch of hilarious spitballs at the wall and it’s always fascinating to see what sticks. Nick Offerman: Every moment I get to be on that show is like an incredibly delicious candy bar and it’s really fun seeing what the audience latches onto. Was that a moment you anticipated fans latching onto the way they have? PopWrap: Last week Ron and the gang got drunk on Snake Juice, which resulted in him dancing with a teeny hat on. I caught up with Nick after a fan meet & greet to see if he could deduce Ron’s appeal, what he’d like to see for the character next season and how he feels about the typically stoic stonefaced civil servant letting loose with some Snake Juice!
